This practical course addresses the ISO/IEC 17025 requirement for method validation, and evaluation measurement uncertainty in testing laboratories. The participant will gain an understanding of the statistical techniques required to validate test methods and estimate measurement uncertainty and will practice those skills to create method validation program and basic uncertainty budgets.
Key Objectives: After successful completion of the course, the participant will be able to:
1. Understand different types of test methods
2. Identify, explain, and recognize key terms, and definitions, related to method performance characteristics
3. Understand the relationship between method validation and quality control requirements
4. Understand the difference between method verification and method validation
5. Understand and implement basic statistics
6. Design method validation/verification programs
7. Understand different approaches used in estimation of measurement uncertainty
8. Create basic uncertainty budgets
9. Use the measurement uncertainty estimates in providing statement of conformity for tested products.
